Why this company exists
Business Solutions of Maine started from a simple observation: most small-business owners are great at what they do, but nobody hands them a guide to the paperwork. Registrations, annual reports, payroll onboarding, insurance questions, grant research — it piles up, and it is easy to fall behind or pay for help you do not really need.
BSOM exists to fill that gap. Catherine has been starting and running small businesses since 2012, so the deadlines, forms, and decisions on this side of the desk are familiar territory — not something read out of a manual. That hands-on background shapes how the company works: practical, one-on-one, and honest about where consulting ends and a licensed professional begins.
Background & credentials
Before founding BSOM, Catherine spent twelve years in sales management with two of the largest payroll companies, working directly with small businesses on payroll setup, onboarding, and the compliance details that come with having employees. That was paired with experience as a licensed insurance agent and, today, service as a registered agent with the Maine Secretary of State for LLC formation and annual report filings.

Business Solutions of Maine helps organize that process: we research requirements, prepare materials, set up practical systems, and keep the next step clear.
We work one-on-one. You will not get a template and a login and be left to sort it out. When something falls outside what a consulting and administrative firm should handle, we say so and help you find the right licensed professional.

We use commercial software, templates, research tools, and AI-assisted technology to work more efficiently on drafting, research, organization, website development, and day-to-day business operations. All client-facing work receives human review before it reaches you.
Sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, bank credentials, tax identifiers, and passwords is only entered into trusted systems when reasonably necessary to perform the service you requested. It is not intentionally submitted to general-purpose AI tools for drafting, research, or content generation.
